Born on January 23, 1964 in Santa Monica, California, actress Mariska Hargitay really has genetics going for her. She is the daughter of professional bodybuilder and Mr. Universe of 1955, Mickey Hargitay and one of the blonde sex symbols of the 1950s, Jayne Mansfield.Tragically, Mariska was asleep in the backseat of the car during the accident that claimed her mother's life. Mariska has appeared on a lot of TV shows, but she is probably best known as Detective Olivia Benson on NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.Although she has been panned and praised for her role, Mariska has won two Gracie Awards, an Emmy, a Prism Award and a Golden Globe for her portrayal, so someone likes her. Her acting debut was in the 1985 horror-comedy, Ghoulies.
