“Rio” Steals #1 from “Madea’s Big Happy Family” This Weekend

The bluebirds of smash hit film ‘Rio’ continued to take the box office by storm this holiday weekend by maintaining their #1 position, which forced Tyler Perry’s ‘Madea’s Big Happy Family’ to take the #2 spot. For its 2 week reign, ‘Rio’ has earned a whopping $81.2 million.

‘Madea’s Big Happy Family,’ the 3rd film from Perry’s Madea franchise released in the Easter period since 2008, also raked in $25.7 million on its debut weekend, which is pretty good. But not good enough to beat the birds!
