Joey Plus born Eferurhobo Joseph Ogbeneovo is an emerging singer and fast rising producer extraordinaire credited with engineering several tracks enjoying spin in clubs around Lagos – Joey has coproduced several tracks with Willie Oputa, engineering tracks for artistes like Blackface, Crazy Culture, Dampte amongst others.
The Delta state maestro in 2005, he was introduced to producer Willie O by a neighbour. Willie was impressed by the track he recorded with the church’s piano and agreed to mentor Joey in the craft of music production and engineering. In the course of his mentorship with Willie O, he co-produced Blackface’s debut album with Willie O and Kelly Hansome where he particularly recorded Blackface’s vocals for ‘ahead of the game’ song.
Joey – who is inspired by Victor Iwaifo, 2pac and R Kelly – recorded his first studio track afterwards, his rendition of a popular gospel tune.
In 2006, he left Willie’s mentorship and became an independent producer at Rotron studios where he met producer Dr. Frabs. He produced tracks for several upcoming artistes including the Krazy Kulture duo of ‘jupa’ fame.
Joey Plus is pursuing a solo career doing pop and dance music with the release of his debut single – ‘No Time’ featuring Dampte. ‘No Time’ has been receiving rave reviews and becoming a favourite with fans.
