Ghanaian, Nana Afua Antwi wins Top Model of Colour UK 2010


Striking UK-based Ghanaian aspiring model Nana Afua Antwi was recently crowned the female Top Model of Colour UK for the year 2010.  She was selected alongside her male counterpart, Jason Daniel Best at the Grand Finale event which was held at Porchester Hall in West London.

The models took to the catwalk and were a vision of style and class in their elegant dresses and sharp suits.

It was a fantastic evening and the impressive contestants conveyed passion and eagerness while showing off their modeling skills and confidence on the runway.


Nana Afua is a proud Ashanti girl currently based in London studying Art & Design, and specializing in Fashion. She has high hopes of becoming a successful model and a top fashion designer. She becomes the first Ghanaian girl to win the title since the huge success of the competition in 2006. With an obvious expression of shock and more excitement, she received the coveted UK modeling title after beating 17 other hopefuls

Nana Afua revealed in a press interview that her inspiration for entering the competition was to use it as a platform to support single mothers living harsh lives in the rural parts of Ghana and also to inspire the young ones out there to achieve their dreams.

Top Model of Colour UK is the biggest modeling competition for Models of Colour (models of African, Caribbean, Hispanic, Oriental, Asian and mixed heritage ethnicity), in the world and is open to male and female contestants. Top Model of Colour is currently held in the UK, Gambia, Holland and Nigeria and will also soon be in Ghana, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Namibia and the USA.

TMC gives models the chance to gain experience of the modeling industry and the possibility of being discovered and going on to become supermodels. This is surely a competition that opens many doors not just to the winner but also to all who participate.
